The Arc Portland Metro is

Who we are

For 70 years, The Arc Portland Metro has been here to support people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities, along with their families and caregivers. Our mission is simple: to stand up for the rights, well-being, and inclusion of people with diverse abilities. We work to break down barriers created by ableism and to build a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and at home in the Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas Counties, Oregon and the nation.

How we do this

Our programs, educational courses and resources are shaped by our community members’ voices—designed to reflect what truly makes a difference in their lives. We keep the conversation going, listening closely and making changes based on real feedback, so we’re always improving together.

We offer programs, resources, and advocacy that grow with our community.
From health and relationship classes to social groups like Club Impact and Club Mosaic, our programs are designed to connect, educate, and empower. We host fun events year-round—like dances, volunteer dinners, and our Summer Blast—that bring people together and celebrate community.

Our resources help people and families navigate Oregon’s I/DD systems with confidence. Whether it’s tool kits, referrals, or caregiver support, we’re here to make things easier.

And when it comes to advocacy, we’re active—educating the public, supporting individuals, and partnering with local agencies to make sure every voice is heard.
